The 10-month Regeneration Program
Recovery at Evans Training Center is more than breaking free from addiction. It is about discovering new life in Christ, restoring families, and building a foundation for lasting transformation. Our 10-month Regeneration Program combines spiritual renewal, emotional healing, and vocational training to equip men for a future of freedom and purpose.
Phases of the Program
Induction
Induction (Approx. 3 Weeks)
The journey begins with Induction, where new students are welcomed into our community. Each man is paired with a “big brother,” a mentor further along in the program, who helps him adjust to daily routines, discipline, and new expectations. This stage provides refuge from the chaos of addiction, introduces the hope of Christ, and lays the groundwork for transformation. Journaling is introduced as a key practice, helping men hear from the Lord and open new lines of communication with God.
Orientation
Orientation (Approx. 5 Weeks)
In Orientation, men learn to build trust and take ownership of their lives. This phase focuses on honesty and integrity, helping participants confront denial and face the reality of how their past choices have affected themselves and others. Through relationships, teaching, and forgiveness, they begin replacing shame with the freedom only Christ offers.
Regeneration
Regeneration (Approx. 10–15 Weeks)
The Regeneration phase explores both the science and the spiritual roots of addiction. Men study the impact of chemical dependency on the mind, body, and behavior, while identifying destructive patterns such as denial and defense mechanisms. At the same time, they begin stepping into greater responsibility through work crews, dorm life, and mentoring younger brothers. Small groups provide a safe space for processing the past and practicing vulnerability.
Inner Healing
Inner Healing (Approx. 10 Weeks)
Addiction is often rooted in deep wounds. Inner Healing addresses issues such as rejection, abuse, grief, and unforgiveness through teaching, prayer, and group work. This is not about victimhood but about freedom, allowing Christ to bring lasting healing and maturity. As men own their past and release resentment, they step into responsibility, wholeness, and a new identity in Christ.
Discipleship
Discipleship (Approx. 10 Weeks)
The final phase, Discipleship, prepares men to live as spiritual leaders and examples. They take on roles such as dorm monitors, work crew leaders, or journal mentors, guiding others through the same practices that shaped them. Lessons challenge faulty beliefs and strengthen core convictions about God. Small groups and peer evaluations foster accountability, while daily responsibilities teach men how to serve others and live as true disciples of Christ.
What to Expect
When a man arrives at ETC, he is welcomed into a supportive community. He is paired with a “Big Brother” to help him settle in, understand the rules, and navigate the program.
Daily Life at ETC includes:
Afternoons are dedicated to 4–5 hours of volunteer work, including projects in painting, landscaping, and serving local churches and nonprofits in Spartanburg and Greenville Counties.
Evenings include group dinners (often joined by staff families), chores, and homework.
Weekends involve work projects on Saturday mornings, approved family visits in the afternoons (after first 30 days), and worship together on Sundays at Hope Church in Spartanburg. Married couples also have the opportunity to receive Biblical marriage counseling as needed.
As men progress through the program, they are given increasing levels of responsibility and leadership to prepare them for life after ETC. Transition assistance is available at graduation, including help with housing, job placement, and re-entry support.
Vocational Training
Throughout the program, men receive hands-on training in professional painting and landscaping technique. Each trade is taught with a focus on excellence, safety, and strong work ethic. These skills not only build confidence but also help to ensure 100% job placement upon graduation through ETC’s partnerships with local employers.
Family Recovery and Marriage Support
Addiction does not affect only the individual. It impacts entire families. That is why ETC offers specialized programs to bring healing to marriages and households.
Family Recovery
Classes and small groups address co-dependency, forgiveness, and reconciliation. Couples are guided through the challenges of anger, rejection, and abandonment, learning to rebuild trust in a Christ-centered environment.
Advanced Marriage
Designed for couples preparing for long-term restoration, this phase equips husbands and wives with practical tools for finances, household responsibilities, accountability, and spiritual intimacy. Dedicated family housing provides a safe space for rebuilding relationships.
Post-Graduation Opportunities
Graduates who complete the 10-month program may request consideration to continue their growth through specialized extensions:
Servanthood Leadership Training (SLT)
A 12-month extension for men called to leadership. Participants retake the five phases while learning to teach, mentor, and lead others. Housing and alumni support provide stability during this season.
On-the-Job Training (OJT)
A 12-month transitional program offering paid work, housing, and accountability. Graduates earn a living wage while continuing in community support and alumni networks.
Family Development
A year-long extension for families, providing stable housing, employment, and financial coaching. With weekly counseling and accountability, couples and children are equipped to prepare for independent living.

Because recovery requires focus and discipline, certain restrictions are in place:

Limitations
ETC is not the right fit for everyone. Our program is best suited for men who are seeking total abstinence from drugs and alcohol, are open to Christian discipleship, and can commit to a 40-week residential program.
Legal Issues
Most participants arrive with pending legal issues such as probation, restitution, or court dates. ETC works with individuals and the legal system to support compliance. However, if a legal matter prevents completion of the program, it may be best to consider another option.
Medical Limitations
Not a detox facility: Applicants must be sober for at least 3 days before entry. Detox must be completed safely under medical supervision before arriving.
MAT (Medication-Assisted Treatment): ETC does not provide MAT or psychiatric medication management. Applicants currently on MAT must first complete detox and obtain a physician’s letter confirming that ETC is a safe option.
